Project Chirag: 2000 से भी ज़्यादा ग्रामीण घर आज Solar Power Lights से रोशन
“रोशनी सभी का हक है” — On the occasion of Diwali, Ruma Devi Foundation launched a large-scale campaign to bring solar-powered lights to remote, electricity-deprived homes in Rajasthan’s Thar region.

Where Darkness is the Norm, Not the Exception
In the remote desert belts of Rajasthan — across Barmer and scattered dhanis of the Thar — electricity is still a luxury. Entire families live in complete darkness once the sun sets. Children study under dim kerosene fumes, women cook by candlelight, and mobile phones — often their only connection to the outside world — remain uncharged for days. The absence of light doesn’t just affect daily routines; it limits safety, education, and dignity.
Project Chirag: Light With Purpose
This Diwali, Ruma Devi Foundation launched Project Chirag, a mission to bring solar-powered light into the lives of families still excluded from the power grid. Through this initiative, 2,000 solar light kits — equipped with mobile charging ports — were distributed to households across the most inaccessible, off-grid settlements. These kits are not just about convenience; they are about dignity, empowerment, and equality.
By replacing the darkness with clean, renewable energy, the Foundation is not only lighting homes — it is illuminating hope, agency, and the right to a safer life.
