Investing in future of Her — Raksha Yojna’s Lakhs of Investment in Beti bachao - beti Padhao
Raksha Yojana is a bold step by Ruma Devi Foundation to shift the narrative around the birth of a girl child in rural Rajasthan. By pairing emotional dignity with financial security, this initiative inspires families to celebrate daughters as proud symbols of strength not burdens. It’s not just about saving a girl. It’s about honoring her arrival and investing in her life.

When Her Birth Is Met With Silence
In many parts of rural India, a girl’s birth still doesn’t spark celebration — it triggers concern, shame, or even regret. Families hide the news, rituals are skipped, and her arrival is met not with applause, but silence.
This mindset leads to lifelong consequences: poor nutrition, lack of education, early marriage, and unequal treatment at every step.
The cycle continues — not because of her ability, but because of how society views her from the very first breath.
That cycle must be broken. Raksha Yojana was created to do just that.
Raksha: Dignity at Birth, Security for Life
Launched as part of the “Beti Bachao” mission, Raksha Yojana is a powerful rural intervention where daughters are welcomed with pride and secured with support.
Key features of the initiative:
In 25 selected villages, one newborn girl is chosen to become a Beti Bachao Brand Ambassador
A Fixed Deposit of ₹20,000 is made in her name at birth
The deposit is linked to the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, active until age 18
Families pledge to contribute a minimum of ₹1000 annually to her account
Parents also sign a formal commitment to educate and care for their daughter
Mothers are recognized publicly to break shame and build celebration around the girl’s birth
This initiative isn’t symbolic. It’s financial, emotional, and deeply cultural — a clear message that she belongs, and she matters.
From Shame to Symbol of Pride
The true impact of Raksha Yojana goes far beyond numbers. It is reshaping how entire communities perceive the birth of a girl. In villages where silence once followed the arrival of a daughter, now there is pride. Where mothers once lowered their gaze, now they stand tall — holding certificates, smiling for photographs, and receiving applause for giving birth to a girl.
In the most recent cycle:
30 newborn girls were selected across 25 villages in Barmer and Balotra to become official Beti Bachao Ambassadors
Over ₹6,00,000 was invested directly into their future — not as charity, but as recognition
Each girl’s name was publicly announced, her photograph proudly shared, and her parents called on stage as honored guests
Families pledged long-term support, education, and care — through signed declarations and secured bank accounts
Village elders, local leaders, and school teachers attended these ceremonies, witnessing a change they once thought impossible
But the biggest transformation? It’s in the eyes of the mothers.
Women who once hesitated to announce their daughter’s birth now speak into microphones and declare with confidence:
“Yes, she’s mine — and I’m proud.”
Children grow up watching this. Neighbors watch and learn. Villages whisper, then talk, then change.
Raksha Yojana is not just fighting discrimination — it is planting a new mindset, one that says:
A daughter is not a burden. She is the beginning of hope.
This is not just a welfare scheme. It is a revolution.
It is reclaiming the right of every girl to be born with dignity, raised with pride, and protected with purpose.
And for the first time, in these 25 villages — the sound of her birth is louder than silence.
