Udhyog Hastshilp Utsav Presents a Global Vision for Women's Empowerment

Jodhpur, January 4: The Udhyog Hastshilp Utsav, organised by Laghu Udyog Bharti, was not merely an exhibition or a formal gathering. It emerged as a powerful confluence of rural women’s strength, India’s rich handicraft traditions, and a clear global vision. The program was chaired by renowned social leader and State Brand Ambassador of Rajeevika, Ruma Devi, with the Honourable Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari, attending as the Chief Guest.

What stood out most during the event was a progressive and practical model of women's empowerment, one that integrates self-reliance, leadership, and global opportunity into a single, coherent vision.

Women's Empowerment Beyond Financial Support

In her presidential address, Ruma Devi articulated a deeper understanding of women's empowerment. She emphasised that empowerment should not be limited to financial assistance alone. The true objective, she stated, is to establish women as decision-makers, leaders, and entrepreneurs.

She shared insights into how traditional skills of rural women artisans, including embroidery, weaving, and indigenous crafts, are being systematically organised and connected with national and international markets. This effort is not only about selling products but about building identity, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods for women artisans.

Women Empowerment Through Indian Handicrafts: From Rural Roots to the Global Stage

One of the most impactful moments of the program was Ruma Devi’s announcement of an upcoming international showcase in New York, where the art and craftsmanship of Indian women artisans will be presented on a global platform, reinforcing the vision of women's empowerment through Indian handicrafts.

This initiative stands as a strong example of how clarity of vision and consistent effort can enable rural Indian craftsmanship to gain international recognition. It also opens new pathways of opportunity for thousands of women artisans across the country.

Diya Kumari’s Message on Global Thinking

Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari congratulated Laghu Udyog Bharti for organising the event and openly praised the work being done by Ruma Devi. She highlighted that Ruma Devi’s journey demonstrates how grassroots initiatives, when guided by determination and purpose, can reach global platforms.

She further stated that taking local handicrafts and cottage industries to the international stage is not just an economic achievement but also a meaningful way of presenting India’s cultural heritage to the world.

Presence of Distinguished Guests

The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including renowned storyteller Priyawada Ji, ACP Chhavi Sharma, entrepreneur Chandra Boob, Manju Bajaj, and Anju Singh. All the distinguished guests appreciated the vision for women's empowerment, the preservation of cottage and small-scale industries, and the global outlook shared by Ruma Devi.

Conclusion: Faith, Tradition, and a Global Ascent

Through Udhyog Hastshilp Utsav, a powerful message resonated clearly. When women are provided with trust, opportunity, and the right platform, they not only transform their own lives but also influence the economic and cultural direction of society and the nation.

“If you believe in yourself, stand firm and stay resolute.” This message from Ruma Devi is no longer just a statement. It has become a symbol of the global rise of India’s women artisans.
